PAPER SCULPT: UNFOLDING & PLANNING SUBJECT: (my cat) HAVOK It took me forever to decide what my object would be. There's honestly not a lot of things in my life like objects that I hold close to my heart. However, the thing at home that brings me the most joy is my partner and I's cat, Havok. She hates everyone but loves me and it makes me feel special. want to make the sculpture into a lamp that can be displayed on a stand or a wall. I want the piece to illuminate because Havok is the light of my life. Taking inspiration from Hari and Deepti the light in their works really made them feel full of life. The face structure will be the most challenging I believe and finding a way to make it structurally sound will be tested when building by hand.
"Am i playing a game or doing something really contributive?" - Karim Rashid, Designer This quote made me think about the design of game consoles. The big companies in the gaming industry have always looked at pushing boundaries of designs, with the rivals of Nintendo, Playstation, and Xbox constantly competing for market share and building hype around the release of future consoles. Besides the Gameboy, I avoided Nintendo products for most of my life, and up until the release of the Nintendo Switch Lite I hadn't found a Nintendo product that suited me. However, the Switch Lite device is a simple design with subtle choices that create a quality experience. Although the Nintendo Switch isn't made to save lives or contribute to all classes, it is the cheapest option for gaming consoles on the market. Its portability lends it accessibility which is quite a contribution to the gaming space where often a purchase of an $800 console is required to play
